what if i don’t know what exactly i want to work on?

No worries! Prior to our initial session, you’ll receive an email with a pre-session questionnaire to get you thinking. These questions will help set the tone for our first session together, where we will explore more in depth, lay the foundation for what your personal coaching journey could look like, and determine where we can begin.

Some people choose to work on one thing throughout the course of a full coaching journey (9 sessions). Some people prefer working on things as they come up in between sessions. Many do a mix of both.

what if I’m already seeing a therapist?

Congratulations for taking steps to invest in your wellbeing and self-growth! In fact, many people work alongside a therapist AND a coach at the same time.

There are several differences between a therapist and a coach, but here are a few highlights:

  • Therapist: Typical functions are to help clients fix problems, overcome issues, and sometimes manage mental illness. A therapist helps client focus on the “WHY.”

  • Coach: Focuses on solutions and opportunities. Clients may come to the realization that the past is directly affecting the present situation, but this information usually comes from the clients themselves. The past is only the focus of coaching as a learning/growing tool, and if part of the present situation. Coaching do not start in the past, nor stay there, but release the energy from the past so clients can move forward. A coach helps clients focus on the “HOW.”
